The Dutch are famous for inventing all sorts of things. Throughout the history they were, together with England, the first to invent many agricultural transformations, colonizing Asia and setting up international markets.

Regarding Football they were the first to pick up the developments from England and then spreading it through Europe. But with betting on football, in Dutch gokken op voetbal, they seem to be a bit late.

Perhaps it’s because the Dutch rather stake their money on more secure markets. Nevertheless, a Dutch website called www.voetbalwedden.eu has offered a chance to change all this. With a cunning design and
continues updates the website attracts many visitors in Holland and from Belgium and will go international soon. It’s formula is simple: be fair, plain and simple about football betting.

All people involved in football betting in the UK should have a look at this website, it’s pretty interesting. Go pay voetbal wedden a visit.

I didn’t do so well last time around, Leicester looked a great bet to me but Sheffield Wednesday managed to throw the form book out of the window and claim an improbable victory. Hopefully I’ll get back on track this week – starting with the midweek fixtures.

In tonight’s Champions League matches German side Bayern Munich travel to Fiorentina looking to book their place in the next round. The German outfit lead 2-1 thanks to a first leg victory at the Allianz Arena – but their winner was scored from an offside position and I’m sure the Serie A side will still be reeling after a frankly shocking decision cost them a draw in Germany. This is a big call, but with home advantage I reckon Fiorentina might just come out on top in this one and they also welcome back the influential Mario Santana, at 3.1 (85/40) they’re a big price and worth the gamble in my opinion.

On Wednesday mid-table Stoke City make the trip north to face strugglers Burnley, who have won just once since Brian Laws took charge. A lot was made of their performances at home earlier in the season but their form at Turf Moor has plumeted and Stoke look a decent bet to me in this one. The Potters have been set a points target by boss Tony Pulis and I expect them to have too much presence and quality for the Clarets. At 3.0 (2/1) the Potters are good value and certainly worth some consideration.

QPR’s new boss Neil Warnock got his side off to winning ways at the weekend with an impressive victory over Championship high-flyers West Brom. The R’s welcome Plymouth Argyle to Loftus Road on Tuesday night and I can only see one winner in this one. QPR should easily see off the travelling Pilgrims and at 1.7 (5/7) they’re heavy favourites but it looks a safe bet as far as I’m concerned.
I’ll be back with more tips ahead of the weekend fixtures, in the meantime why not check out Betfair’s racing tips? They have a talented team of writers who really know their stuff and with the Cheltenham Festival starting next week it is always worthwhile checking out what other people think and doing some homework. If you’re looking for Cheltenham 2010 tips it is the ideal place to start.

In terms of odds the Premier League doesn’t offer great value this weekend. I can see Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton all picking up three points but they’re all heavy favourites and probably good for multiple betting, but not particularly as single selections. Here are a few fixtures where I think value can be found.

The first fixture that stands out to me in terms of value is Leicester’s visit to Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship on Saturday. Wednesday have been on a shocking run lately with three defeats in their last three games – including a 5-0 drubbing at Reading in their last fixture. Leciester on the other hand are unbeaten in their last six fixtures and look set for a play-off place when the season ends. The Foxes even managed to see off high-flying Nottingham Forest in their last fixture and they should be able to Wednesday. Leciester are priced at 2.78 (9/5), which looks great value to me.

In League One Southampton head to Tranmere, who already look doomed to relegation. The Saints are in a rich vein of form at the moment and are still in the running for a play-off place despite their points deduction at the start of the season. This should be a very easy three points for the Saints and at 1.99 (evens) they’re heavy favourites and worth some consideration.

In the FA Cup on Saturday Tottenham make the short trip to Fulham in what should be an exciting encounter. Spurs are a strong side, but away from home their form isn’t particularly impressive and Fulham’s Craven Cottage has been a bit of a fortress this season. This should be a tight game and one either side could win, which is why it surprised me a little that the odds on Fulham coming out on top are a very attractive 3.25 (9/4), a great price considering they have the home advantage.

I’ll be back next week with another round of tips. In the meantime, why not check out Betfair’s Cheltenham 2010 tips? The big event is coming up (March 13) and it is one of the most anticipated events in the horse-racing calendar. The showpiece event is the Cheltenham Gold Cup on March 19, but there are plenty of other races to have a flutter on and any advice going into the festival is always welcome.

1X2Monster Membership Update and New Features

Hi to all our loyal and new 1×2monster members,

This article will hopefully explain our new membership structure and plans for new membership levels and features coming very soon so stick with it if you want to find out what they are, I’ll try to be brief. I’ll explain the various membership levels that will be available very soon but for now let’s explain the current set-up.

What Do I Get Free On The 1X2Monster Website?
All the lower leagues are fully accessible to visitors to the website (1×2tips, h2h, etc):

English League One, English League Two, Scottish Division One, Scottish Division Two, Scottish Division Three, Austrian Bundesliga, Belgium Jupiler, MORE

The Soccer Betting Blog is of course free to all visitors.

All results, league tables, news features, substantial up to the hour betting odds, and live scores are free to all visitors.

New Membership Structure – Now Active
As you know the membership has been available in free three month blocks for about the past year or so. Now however we have had to introduce a minimum small fee in order to maintain the website and to be able to move it forward with new ideas. What this means is that there is now a new membership structure which is (as at 4th March 2010):

One Month 1×2monster Membership £2.50
Two Month 1×2monster Membership £4.50
Three Month 1×2monster Membership £6.00

Existing free memberships are unaffected.

At the moment we have only one payment processor (PayPal) and we are aware that some people will not be able to use this method of payment. So we will be soon introducing other safe and well known payment processors to cater for this problem.

Future Membership Structure – Coming Soon With New Features
Very soon we will be introducing new membership options which will look like:

One Month 1×2monster Standard Membership £2.50
Two Month 1×2monster Standard Membership £4.50
Three Month 1×2monster Standard Membership £6.00
One Month 1×2monster Gold Membership £TBA
Two Month 1×2monster Gold Membership £TBA
Three Month 1×2monster Gold Membership £TBA

What’s a Gold Member?
A new feature that will be introduced will be the availability of data downloads that you could use in your own third party software programs. The data will be updated once per week and will be available in several formats (probably including CSV, text, Excel, PDF, Word, etc). Likely downloads that will be available are:

Results data for all eighteen leagues,
1×2monster tips performance data for each league,
League table data,
And more.

Everton head to Spurs in great form having seen off Manchester United last weekend and I reckon they may just be in for some joy at White Hart Lane. Tottenham is never an easy place to go and Everton played in the Europa League in midweek but I still think they’ll continue their fine league form and see off Spurs. This is a big call but at 4.4 (7/2) Everton are a decent price and worth the risk in my opinion.

Fulham will be full of confidence after seeing off Shakhtar Donestk in the Europa League and they head to an out of form Sunderland who are sliding towards the relegation places. Fulham aren’t the best side away from home but I still think they’ll take all three points. At 3.9 (3/1) they’re a decent price and worth a nibble.

The Carling Cup final takes place today and I can’t really call a winner to be honest. However, Villa’s usually mean defence has shipped a few goals lately, while United are without Rio Ferdinand. I reckon we’ll see goals in this game and the best bet looks to be over 2.5 goals at 2.02 (21/20).

I’ll be back ahead of the next round of fixtures with my usual picks and tips. If you’re a fan of horse racing you’ll know the Cheltenham Gold Cup is on the horizon so why not check out Betfair’s Cheltenham 2010 tips? They update very regularly and have a talented team of writers who really know their stuff.

The Premier League has been ’split’ this weekend, with five fixtures on Saturday and five on the Sunday. No need for a long intro, I’ll just dive right in.

On Sunday Bolton make the short trip to Blackburn in desperate need of three points. Blackburn have pulled away from the relegation places but the Wanderers are still very much involved and will be eager to pick up a vital three points. The Rovers have a fantastic record at home, but strangely Bolton seem to beat Blackburn at Ewood Park fairly consistently, with Blackburn more likely to come away with the points when they travel to the Reebok. Despite results not going their way since Owen Coyle took over I still think Bolton have improved and I reckon they might just get back to winning ways on Sunday. Bolton are a massive 4.5 (7/2) to win this one, and at those odds I certainly think they’re worth a nibble.

In another of Sunday’s fixtures Fulham welcome Birmingham to Craven Cottage and I think the away side will come away with the points again. Fulham faced Shakhtar Donesk in the Europa League on Thursday night and will be tired after facing Donesk, who are the holders of the UEFA Cup so technically reigning champions of the Europa League (sort of anyway). Birmingham are a tough side and I expect them to play a physical game that I reckon Fulham may just struggle to cope with. With odds of 4.0 (3/1) I just can’t resist having a cheeky punt on the Blues, even if their form has dipped a little of late.

There is just one Championship fixture on Sunday with promotion chasing West Brom travelling to Bristol City. City’s Ashton Gate is a hard place to go, but I still think the Baggies will be too strong for the Robins on Sunday. West Brom are favourites and at 2.04 (21/20) they’re not a bad price and I reckon they’re worth a nibble.

If you’ve enjoyed my betting tips keep checking back as I update fairly regularly, in the meantime why not check out Betfair’s racing tips for today? They update on pretty much a daily basis and have a talented team of writers who really know their stuff.

Over the years some great ties have been played out between English sides and Italian opposition and Tuesday’s tie between United and Milan should e no different. In terms of picking a winner for the game at the San Siro, that is a tricky task. It may be too close to call in Milan on Tuesday night and I’m hesitant to suggest one side will take a definite advantage into the second leg. However, over the course of two legs and with United at Old Trafford for the second leg I think they may just be good enough to continue to the next round of the competition. United are heavy favourites to qualify at 1.49 (1/2) and I’m inclined to agree with the bookies on this one, although admittedly those odds are a little shorter than I would have liked. One interesting sub-plot in this particular encounter is the presence of former United hero David Beckham in the AC Milan side, he hasn’t scored for the Rossoneri since rejoining on loan but I’ve got a sneaky suspicion he may just net against Sir Alex Ferguson’s men at the San Siro – which is priced at a very attractive 9.4 (17/2).

I’ll turn my attention to domestic matters for the rest of my betting tips and I thought I’d start with Ipswich’s visit to Peterborough on Tuesday night. Ipswich have really picked up of late and finally seem to be gelling under the guidance of boss Roy Keane. Peterborough on the other hand are dropping like a stone and don’t look as if they’ve got it in them to mount a serious survival fight. At 2.36 (11/8) the visitors are the favourites to take all three points and Ipswich look good value and worth some consideration to me.

On Tuesday night promotion chasing Swansea travel to relegation threatened Plymouth and again I reckon the away side will emerge victorious in this one. Under Paulo Sousa Swansea have become a team who are fantastic on the counter and Plymouth have to go all out to win all their remaining home games if they are to avoid relegation. With the Pilgrims having to push forward I reckon Swansea will punish them on the break and at 2.2 (6/5) they look good value and worth a nibble.

I’ll be back ahead of the weekend fixtures with another round of betting tips and picks, until then why not check out Betfair’s Cheltenham tips 2010? The big event may not be until March but it is always worth keeping up to date with the latest goings on so you’re fully prepared for Gold Cup weekend.

The Premier League takes a break this weekend because of the FA Cup so I thought I’d focus on the Championship for this round of fixtures. I considered offering some FA Cup picks, but that competition has been a strange beast this season (as usual to be fair) and with Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool already out you just don’t know what is going to happen.

One fixture that grabbed me straight away is Coventry’s home tie against QPR. Rangers have struggled of late and were beaten at Loftus Road by Ipswich Town in their last fixture. The constant merry-go-round of managers at QPR seems to be taking it’s toll and I expect Coventry to pile more misery on them this weekend. Coventry are a good side at the Ricoh Arena and at 2.16 (6/5) they look good value to me and well worth some consideration.

Basement boys Peterborough United make a tricky trip to Middlesbrough and I can only see one winner in this one. I feel for the Posh in all honesty, as they play some decent football but just don’t seem to have the quality and strength to cut it in the Championship. Middlesbrough are heavy favourites at 1.58 (4/7) and although you won’t see a great profit this looks like a home banker to me.

Doncaster Rovers have a great record at the Keepmoat Stadium and they welcome promotion chasing Nottingham Forest to South Yorkshire this weekend. Despite Donny’s great record at home I just think Forest will be a bit too strong for them on Saturday. Forest are the only team really battling with West Brom and Newcastle for the automatic promotion slots and they should have enough about them to see off Doncaster. Forest are available at 2.44 (7/5) and I certainly think they’re worth a nibble.

I’ll be back before the midweek Champions League fixtures next week with my next round of betting tips. In the meantime why not check out Betfair’s racing tips for today? They have a talented team of writers who update the site daily and it is always a good idea to have as many resources as possible in terms of a gamble.

The fixtures are coming thick and fast thanks to the cold weather that hit the UK and wrecked the football schedule in January. We’ve got another full program this week across Tuesday and Wednesday, with some massively important games for clubs at both ends of the table.

Both Hull and Blackburn sit just above the drop zone and the two sides meet at Ewood Park on Wednesday. Hull picked up four points off Manchester City and Chelsea in their last two games, but I reckon the Rovers might just bring them back down to earth with a bump. Hull’s games against City and Chelsea were both at the KC Stadium and the Tigers are much better at home than away, Phil Brown’s side are yet to win on their travels, while Blackburn are a difficult side at Ewood Park. Hull may be heading into this one in better form but I still fancy Blackburn and at 10/11 they’re heavy favourites with the bookies as well.

On Tuesday Burnley make the trip to Fulham still in search of their first win away from Turf Moor. The Clarets picked up a vital three points with a victory over West Ham at the weekend but Fulham are a good side at Craven Cottage and I doubt Burnley will get any joy from their trip to London. The home side have some serious injury problems but they’re still a decent, well organised side and they should be able to take all the points in this one. At 1.8 (4/5) you won’t see the best return on your investment but I still reckon it is a bet worth placing.

There is plenty of Championship action as well as League One and League Two fixtures but I’m going to stay in the Premier League for the last of my betting tips. West Ham came unstuck against Burnley at the weekend with a loss at Turf Moor and they welcome Birmingham to Upton Park on Wednesday. Whenever the Hammers have come up against a strong, physical side they’ve struggled and Blues boss Alex McLeish has certainly forged a tough side out of Birmingham City. At 5/2 I actually think Birmingham are massively overpriced for this one and they’re certainly worth a nibble in my opinion.

I’ll be back at the weekend with another round of picks, in the meantime why not check out Betfair’s racing tips for today? They’ve got a talented set of writers who really know their stuff and update the blog on a regular basis.

As usual I’ve had a look through this weekend’s fixtures and I reckon I’ve picked a few winners so I’ll just jump straight in.

I thought I’d start my betting tips with Blackburn’s visit to Stoke. Sam Allardyce’s Rovers side have a shocking record on their travels, managing just one win on the road so far this year and I don’t fancy their chances at the Britannia Stadium. Stoke’s home form has been exceptional again this season and they should be strong enough to see off a Rovers side who just don’t travel well. I expected Stoke to be odds-on for this one but they’re great value at 2.38 (11/8) and worth some consideration in my opinion.

Manchester City travel to Hull City on Saturday and despite Hull’s improbably draw against Chelsea I still fancy City for this one. City are in a great position to qualify for the Champions League and they should stroll past Hull, even at the KC Stadium. At 1.75 (4/5) you won’t see a huge return on your investment but I just can’t see this one going any other way.

In League One title chasing Norwich City travel to Millwall in great form having marched to the top of the table. Rumours of fresh investment have circulated around Carrow Road this week and there is finally a reason to be optimistic for the Canaries. Millwall are no pushovers but I still reckon Norwich have what it takes to win this one and at 2.46 (6/4) they look good value to me.

I’ll be back in the week next week as we’ve got a decent round of midweek fixtures. If you can’t wait that long, try checking out Betfair’s racing tips for today, they update their blog daily and have some knowledgeable and talented writers.
