A bit of football league action

My midweek picks went pretty well with both Bolton and Birmingham doing the business for me. Only Arsenal let me down away at Burnley, but I doubt many would have bet against the Gunners heading into that fixture. Not much catching my eye from the Premier League this weekend so I’ll delve into the lower leagues…
Blackpool have been flying in the Championship this season and I have been really impressed with what Ian Holloway has done at Bloomfield Road. Whether or not they can keep it up all season remains to be seen but they’re certainly a team to look out for. However, they host West Brom on Saturday and I think that may be just a bit too bigger test for the Seasiders. Blackpool’s star man has perhaps been Charlie Adam and he is struggling with an injury and may miss out, if he is missing it will be massive for the home side. The Baggies haven’t won in three, but they are a good side and will end that run soon. At 5/4 they’re not a bad price and I think they might just do it at Blackpool.
In League One mid-table Carlisle travel to promotion chasing Colchester, who have an excellent record on home soil. They’ve won eight out of ten at home and lost just once so you would expect them to be heavy favourites but at 5/6 they’re actually quite reasonably priced and I’ll certainly be having a gamble on them at the weekend.
The final selection from this weeks betting tips comes from League Two. Basement boys Darlington are having a woeful season and have accumulated an abysmal eight points from their 21 games so far. Northampton are the visitors to the crisis club this weekend and I can only see an away victory, at 11/10 I’m very tempted by Northampton Town in this fixture.
